Trip to adulala

The team made a 4 hour trip to visit Birra and his church in Adulala, On the way, we saw a sign advertising the "Adulala Resort". I was going to take a picture of it on the way back, but forgot - remember, the pictures and story we are sharing is not a "resort"

The original adulala church was featured in a previous blog (June 2016), but I'll include a picture of both churches.

This new church was built following a surge in membership after our friends from St. Charles Methodist church in Destrahan, Louisianna and "Christ for Humanity" in Tulsa provided funds for feeding the starving people around the Adulala church. After the food distribution, Where everyone was able to hear the Gospel preached, 3 families became believers and joined the church. In the next 3 weeks, about 3 dozen families joined. These new families would certainly not fit in the old church, and saw fit to donate all the land, timber, rocks and nails needed to build a larger church. Great Concerns Ethiopia helped them by providing the metal roof.

Today, the church has about 90 members (20 of them scheduled for baptism soon). In addition, 5 other churches have ben spawned from this one. Birra focuses on training the leaders(pastors) of the new churches and his discipleship group. All tolled, the 6 churches have nearly 200 members that formerly were adherents of various witch doctors.

Our team heard testimonies of 4 men and women about their "coming to faith" and how it had impacted their lives and the lives of their community.
